Our Favorite Bodyscapes from 2020

What Is a Bodyscape?
A bodyscape is a style of artistic boudoir photography that uses light, shadow, shape, and composition to transform the human body into a work of art. Traditional bodyscapes are often photographed against a black background with dramatic lighting, creating abstract images that highlight curves, lines, and texture rather than focusing on the person as a whole.
Over the years, my own definition of bodyscapes has expanded. While some images truly resemble landscapes, others simply celebrate the beauty of the human form through artistic composition. What they all have in common is an emphasis on shape, light, and storytelling.
One of the biggest misconceptions about bodyscapes is that they are only for women with a certain body type. In reality, bodyscapes are one of the most universally flattering styles of boudoir photography. Because the images focus on light, shadow, and individual details rather than the entire body, clients of all shapes, sizes, ages, and backgrounds can create stunning bodyscape images.
Many clients also love bodyscapes because they feel intimate without feeling overly revealing. Some images are anonymous, showing only a curve, silhouette, or detail. Others feel bold, artistic, and powerful. Every session is different, but the goal is always the same: to create images that celebrate the beauty of the body in a way that feels authentic to you.
Below are ten of my favorite bodyscape images from 2020, featuring real women and real bodies.
